Tender Reunions

Ken left on Friday the 17th for a motorcycle rally in Alvarado.

On Sunday the 19th I left for Atlanta before he returned home.

On Wednesday the 22nd I came home from Atlanta, only to find he had just left for Marne, Iowa, where the second-largest Triumph dealer in the US is located.  He towed the Rocket III up there and left it for some warranty work. 

After midnight last night (Thursday the 23rd) he returned and fell into bed.

This morning he turned over and looked at me, and said, "Oh...I forgot you were here."

Up from the grave he AROSE!

Do you know that hymn?  Not one of my favorites but I have a strong sense of how it feels to sing that right now...the energy that you have as you reach that last word!  AROSE!

I've had a bad, badder, not so bad, and really bad headache since returning from the BE.  I also haven't been able to sleep so well, which is disconcerting. 

But now...the headache seems to finally have lifted.  Came home for lunch to find my Domestic Goddess finishing up.  House smells clean and lovely.  I have a sense of possibility that I haven't felt for a while.  "I been looking all over for that!"

Weather is lovely.  It will be hot pretty soon; not so happy about that, but enjoying this while I can. 

Josie is snoring on the floor next to me.  Hee hee. 

Holley, my dear stepdaughter, is graduating from college in a few weeks!  She will receive a double Associate's degree (in Biology and...something else) and plans to go on to for her Registered Nurse degree right away.  Her dad will be in North Carolina on a long-planned trip at that time, but I get to go to Houston for the event!  Very excited.  And very proud.  She has been working toward this for a long time. 

Learned from a FB friend that Connecticut legislature has approved same sex marriage and the governor is expected to sign into law.  Also the same conversation is going on in Maine.  I'm having a little party right here by myself!

Wife in the North

I am reading the funniest book yet, Wife in the North, which actually started as a blog and still is one.  Laugh out loud funny.  Good for nights in bed when your partner has gone to sleep and you are trying to be considerate but you just have to giggle maniacally... make them think you are up to something in your sleep.

There's a little audio byte on the site in which Judith O'Neill, the author, reads one of her entries and then goes on with an interview.  In it she says, "I think marriage is partly about compromise."

Partly?

There's something for everyone in this, I think.  It resounds for me as a woman, a mother (albeit step), a partner, a daughter of a mother, and as someone who appreciates the absurd.  It's also very sad in places.
