Random thoughts...Begged, borrowed, and stolen.
Earlier this week I was driving down 35 East in packed afternoon traffic, and someone rear-ended me, hard. Hard enough that I then rear-ended the truck & trailer a car length ahead of me.
Then the driver who hit me tried to drive away. And I chased him. And the people that I had hit, they were waving and hollering at me because they thought *I* was trying to run away. I was calling 911 and waving and honking. Once we exited onto the service road and the traffic stopped for the light, I got out of my car and ran up to the guy who'd hit me, and I banged on his window and said, "Hey! You hit my car! You have to stop!"
Yep, I did that. As stupid as that was.
He assured me that he planned to stop, but I am very not convinced of that. As it turned out, he had no driver's license or insurance and a criminal record. He asked me if we could just handle this between us, because he knew someone who had a body shop. I said, too bad, the police are already on their way. They said he was going to jail.
I am sorry that his day went to hell like it did. He's in my prayers. It kind of messed with my day too, but it could have been a million times worse. Fortunately I was not hurt and my Buick Park Avenue / armored personnel carrier was not damaged. Best car EVER.
The people in the trailer I hit had no damage either, thank goodness. They were hauling a load of items from Oklahoma to be shipped to a medical mission they run in Sierra Leone.
Also thinking about babies. New babies in the lives of people I know: Isaac T., Charlotte S., Lucas H., Madeleine H., Hazel M. I talked to a brand-new aunt yesterday and saw that wonder in her eyes. You know how when a baby is born that you particularly love and care about, it is the most amazing baby in the whole world? While I haven't had a baby of my own, I have experienced it with my granddaughter, nieces and nephews. It is a BIG BIG FEELING!
Yep. That feeling. I think that's how God feels about every one of us. Me, and all the babies and their parents, and the man whose car hit mine, and the people who care for those in Sierra Leone.
