What is the one appliance you can't live without?
I kind of take this prompt to exempt things like refrigerators and toilets. Because my life would be entirely different without them. In the world I live in, they are necessities, not luxuries.
And under this rubric, luxuries are things like a microwave, coffee maker (Keurig!), toaster, dishwasher, toaster oven, crock pot blah blah blah.
SO: I've lived without a dishwasher several times before, although I grew up with one always in my childhood home. So, I could live without it, but I would really rather not. The two things I love best about my dishwasher are that it sanitizes the dishes if I want it to, and it makes a splendid hiding place for dirty dishes. I'm trying to keep my new countertops clean and tidy, and having a dish drainer out would be a bummer in that area.
I do not, however, use my dishwasher to keep my turkey moist, or whatever the point is here:
