The RevGals' Big Events are a way I mark the passing of another year. They are a yardstick for where I have been and where I am going.
They are incredibly safe space with people I mostly only see once a year, in the midst of 2,000 other people I have never met. They are a paradox wrapped in an enigma.
40 of us sailed on the Carnival Elation on January 20. We stopped in Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico.
This year's program on the Enneagram was like coming home for me, in a way. I have heard Suzanne Stabile teach "Know Your Number" on CD many times while driving to WesTexas. To meet and hear her in person was a great joy.
Exceptionally precious was the opportunity to get to know "with skin on" several folks I have known only through blogs or Facebook posts, some for many years.
And the peaceful time with dear friends from past BE's, and/or other associations.
And, really, best of all, the peaceful time with myself...
I was, of course, off of the computer and phone for the entire week. I spent the next full week being sick and then helping my sister who'd had surgery. So, effectively, two weeks away from computer. Lots of time to think. Lots of time to listen. To consider where I am and where I am going.
As a result, I have closed down my Farmville 2 farm, which was beginning to run my life, and I am starting a Paleo Whole 30 tomorrow.
Here's to new things. To shutting down. And to peace.
