This squirrel was lying on the ground spread-eagled when I left for lunch today. They do it in trees, too. It's so hot. It's THAT hot.
According to Squirrels, The Answer Guide, "Because of the contrast between the hot squirrel and the cool ground, the squirrel can disspate excess bodily heat quite quickly."
I considered joining him. Argh.
