Ken and I went this weekend to my Aunt Betty's 90th birthday party in Lake Jackson, south of Houston. We flew down Friday night and back on Sunday morning, with the big event on Saturday. Highlights:
- Seeing Aunt Betty, who always has the best and happiest attitude in the world. The title of this post is something she said on Saturday. Words to live by!
- Being with much of my Butler extended family.
- Having Ken meet and become fast friends with my cousin's wife's father...who used to ride a '45 Triumph.
- Seeing my godparents, Aunt Emily and Uncle Oliver.
- The Tribute to Betty Lane video made by cousin Arthur of still photos through the years, representing family, teaching, principalship, and much of the travel, cruises, horseback riding, and fun enjoyed by Aunt Betty. She was riding a horse at a dude ranch in her 80's. I've always said when I grew up I wanted to be like her. I'd better get started!
- Having my cousin John (who doesn't ever say much) tell me that I looked more like the Butlers (as shown in the slide show) than any of us. :) I consider that a great compliment.
- Staying in Katie's gorgeous guest room in her beautiful condo.
- Bloody Marys in the airport!
- Dinner Friday with sister Barbara, BIL Dean, and niece Katie
- Dinner Saturday with them plus brother Don and SIL Marian.
- Time with Ken
