Whew! What a week, what a weekend!
Timesheet:
Last week I had meetings galore in the daytime and activities at church every week night except Weds., when I went to see Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Friday night and Saturday were the Everything Must Change conference in Dallas, of which more in a minute. Sunday I trained for Vestryperson of the Day (6 am to 1 pm) and then taught a confirmation class (1-3 p.m). As an introvert, I need more "down" time (!) so I am taking a vacation day today.
Everything Must Change Conference, Dallas:
Very interesting. My first experience (other than reading about it) with emergent church stuff. (I am not sure if this is even the best description). I'll be processing this more over time and will surely write more. But I did leave with a sense of direction to look more at what I can do in my immediate, local environment. My church supports missions in Bluff, Utah and in Dallas (financiallly and with person power, though I have never been to either myself). But what about the local environment in Lewisville, Texas? What about Denton, where I live?
The Spring to Come:
This spring is whoah, so busy. I am taking a serious look at that. I have said several times lately at work that my goal for the year is to help keep everyone's blood pressure from blowing out the tops of our heads. If that's the direction I want to lead...I need to consider that myself, don't I?
Yes, I do.
