Stewardship meeting was great. We are going to do the pledge ingathering in the way that so fired my imagination back in June (you may read about it here). Yeah!!! Tomorrow the committee members will be formally commissioned and invited to bring our pledges (financial, prayer, time and talent) up to place on the altar, as the Vestry members did back in the early summer.
Then there'll be a campaign of letter writing, etc., and Ingathering Sunday for everyone is Sept. 23. I am happy to be involved with this effort to support the church I love so much.
On the way home via Sonic (for my Diet Cherry Limeade with extra ice!) I stopped off at the Old Hall and McCurley Cemeteries. Because I do love cemeteries, and I pass these often.
Here are a couple of cell phone photos:
This is a GREAT BIG post oak tree. One of the only trees in the cemetery. Looks like a nice shady place to be buried, if you were being buried.
And this one is cool:
"According to local oral tradition, the first burial may have been that of a man who died as his family was traveling through the area" (from an online Lewisville history site):
In addition to many graves, I spotted a cottontail bunny (not so unusual) and a ROADRUNNER (pretty unusual, to me, this far east!) I was not quick enough to get their photos! It was a good reminder that this area was originally grassland prairie, no matter how many large oak trees may be thriving in my yard.
Desk work this evening. See ya.
