Yesterday I felt bad in the morning. Despite it, Ken and I took dogs to a new (to us) park in the early afternoon, where I fell down spectacularly. Just a couple of scrapes and a bruise but I know it upsets him terribly when that happens.
I fell down because, when he got out of the car, he didn't shut his door - he was very excited about taking Josie over to see the big half-a-dead-snake lying in the parking lot. Yep, snake. The dead back half of a great big copperhead. Texas.
Well, his car door was still open, so when I opened mine all the loose papers blew out - including deposit slips I need to file! Then I dropped Boudreaux' leash, so when I dove to recover it before the papers, everything came tumbling down. Lesson....Hmm, don't have loose papers in the car? Stay away from big dead snakes?
The dogs had a WONDERFUL time. We don't get them out to new places enough. Probably because the same is true for us! This park has a nice pond. We tried to get the dogs to go down to it. Josie was pleased to but Boudreaux planted his rear and wouldn't go near. He remembers the beach...where we tried to convince him to go swimming. He does NOT want to!
We walked a ways, then went to Home Depot to buy plants for the yard.
By the time we came home I had developed a horrible sore throat and allergy attack. All the trees are pollinating....sorry for my friends in the snow, but at least you don't have pollens yet. Does that make you feel any better?
This morning my eyes are swollen almost shut and I have laryngitis. So much for church, choir, taking communion to shut-ins, etc. as I had planned. I'm going to start on Zyrtec and hopefully can get out to do my planting tomorrow....!
Here is what we bought:
African daisies: for our one sunny patch
Impatiens for the shadier areas in the front:
Climbing clematis for the side yard:
and morning glories and giant moonflower for the fence:
Will let you know how it goes.
