I know, I made a big list of things to work on each month over in Mindy's comments. They are still things to work on! But this is the MAIN THING: Morning and Evening Routines. Little ones. If I can get started there, I know that everything else will be so much easier.
I have mentioned FLYLady here before many times. She has helped me in so many ways - learning to not be so hard on myself; getting better at planning meals in advance; small steps toward organizing; getting Christmas budgeted and bought early. But I have never really "gotten it," and by it, I mean the thing that people have who write testimonials to FLYLady and say that their homes are decluttered, their marriages are saved, etc. My house has never been decluttered in its LIFE! Maybe it never will be! But it sure won't be, if I don't do first things first. FLYLady has only told me this a million and seven times. (Seriously - I've been a member there since early in 2001!)
Bad Alice made me laugh so much one time; I mentioned FLYLady and she said she never could keep up with FLYLady and she was going to start a group of her own called "Walking Sideways Like a Crab Lady." :) You and me both, sister!
Well, I'm going to try again. I think that perhaps I must go back to the very beginning ("a very good place to start") and work on my morning routine and before bed routines. Laying out my clothes the night before always seems so dumb, but the days I do it are immeasurably easier to launch into, than the days when I flap through the closet looking for something, anything!
I can add to these once I get them "down." So.
Before Bed Routine: Clean kitchen, choose clothes for tomorrow.
Morning Routine: Get up at 6, get dressed first, then do whatever else. That is the hardest one for me! I always want to put it off.
I'll let you know how it goes. I can tell you now, I did it last night and this morning. Though I got up too late! so will have to keep working on it. I'm not behind, right? I can just jump in wherever I am. :)
