Boudreaux says:
Today Mom took us for a walk to a new place!
She had a great time walking in the woods with Sam Dog and his mama when she went to Maine, and she wondered why WE never walk in the woods. Then she realized: there aren't a lot of woods around here! We like the sidewalk and the park, but in the summertime it is hot on our feets, and we aren't good at hikey walking through grass. Our legs are not long, so a path is best.
She grew up in the Piney Woods, where there are lots of foresty places. But this part of Texas is called the Blackland Prairie. There are trees here, but not so many or so woodsy. And most of them are planted by people, not growed by God.
So today we went looking for a new woods, or what she calls "a reasonable facsimile." (But we didn't send a fax to anyone. I'm just sayin'.)
There is a place across the highway called "the duck pond" that used to be on a golf course owned by UNT. Now they have built buildings on it, and there's no more golf, but the pond and the ducks are still there. And big turtles! The grass is pretty short and not too sticker-y.
We walked all around and smelled everything, and we saw ducks (don't tell them but we think they are VERY funny looking!). Mom says some dogs bark at ducks, but we are not so rude, or maybe I mean so stupid: they are a lot taller than we are!
And Josie went swimming!
She likes that water stuff. Not me! No swimming, no way, no how!
Ha ha, she had to take a bath after that. But she likes water, right? Maybe not bath water.
Our Gran and Granddad are coming this afternoon! We can't wait!
Later!
Dear Boo-droh,
This is SAM, and I am friends with your mama. My Molly used to go in the water to cool off at the park. She used to just lie down in it. My mama used to say, "No!" But then she would laugh, because we loved Molly and knew she got awfully hot in her big fur coat.
Where do you take a bath?
Your friend,
SAM

Hi Boudreaux,
I wish I still liked long walks, but I have developed a hitch in my getalong recently, and just walk down the block and back now. last weekend Mama and Daddy took me to the beach and I hated it! It was too hot, and I didn't like the water jumping up at me! Why do humans like to sit on sand and play in salt water that jumps up at you? Aren't they strange?
Your friend,
Amie

Dear Sam,
My mama started to say NO too, especially because Josie just got all brushed. But then she remembered that our daddy says, "They're dogs...let them be dogs!" and she stopped. My baths are in the bathtub with Daddy. Oooooh, I don't like baths. They make me sad.
Hi Amie!
Thanks for writing. Josie LOVES the beach, but not me. My mom and dad have some pictures of where I'm on my leash and they dragged me toward the water (they thought I would change my mind, HA!) There are toe nail marks in that sand! People and Josie are weird.
love, Boudreaux!

It looks like your mom knows where to take 2 dogs to have a great walk. We have a pond like that by our house but we dont get to go over and visit very often because Theres gators that live their. with lots and lots of little fishies. Great picture! I love the water too. But The only place that I can go swimming is at the beach(which we dont go to much) and in the back yard in my little kiddie pool. Teehee. ~Maya~(Black german shepherd)
