Thankful List

Just over at the BabyGator's place and she reminded me I need to be thankful.  So here is my list of what I'm  thankful for:

  • Tupelo Johnny, who came and helped Ken get SO MUCH WORK DONE. They had fun, too, in a working guy way. And while we were here we did some fun stuff...ate out, went to 2 movies, went to the fireworks last night. I think it was a good thing for all of us. We'll miss him.
  • CareNow, which should be calling me any minute to say it's my turn to come in and see the doctor. I have an ... unpleasant thing ... which over the counter remedy made MUCH WORSE. EEEEEEEYAH. So I am going in for the Rx med for it.
  • Sunshine in the day, breezes at night.  Can this really be July?
  • Grilled steaks last night, plus baked potatoes and a spinach/strawberry salad that I got the recipe for from the paper.
  • Kiwanis Fireworks show - really a great one, though one of the songs was not my favorite.
  • That July 4th is over, so that maybe the party that went on all night last night, 2 doors down, complete with loud fireworks through 4 am, will not have to happen again any time soon.
  • That the place where the new metal gate scraped my heel to pieces is healing. I just love to watch my body heal itself...

Oh dear, here I am again

Why do you suppose I always have to do a gratitude list on Friday afternoons?  I think I must need a nap!

I was just really very snarky to someone in an e-mail.  I usually do not behave this way.  :(  But for heaven's sake!....

I wish to first unburden myself with the following ARGHS:

  • The students learning English next door? Are second language learners; they are not DEAF. Therefore, we really need not have the video on so loudly that it can be heard in their home countries, now, need we?
  • If I never hear the phrase "Baby Daddy" again, it'll be soon enough.

Now here's the rest.  I am grateful!!!:

  • For the true friends with whom I work
  • For a weekend to come
  • For the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser that got all the coffee stains out of my favorite mug
  • For teabags
  • For my husband, who is sweet to me
  • For sticking with my June resolution (hard & scary) for 13 days now
  • For Jazzercise class to make up the one I missed this morning

Thanks be.

Gloryosky!

I am so very happy about:

  • The weather today:  Gorgeous!
  • Sitting in the front yard with dogs after work to do a little knitting
  • My Domestic Goddess, Kim, came back yesterday after a 2 month hiatus.  I hugged her when she came in the door!  Oh, joy!  Oh, rapture!  to come home to a clean and tidy home!
  • I picked up the newest Susan Wittig Albert book, Nightshade, at the library today.  I've had it on reserve for months...it came out April 1...and now it's my turn!  Finish laundry, clean up kitchen, and I'm READING!

Gratitudes

I am grateful for these things:

  • Desiderata, which I was reminded of last night by a recent really good book (post on that soon)
  • We are having THUNDERSNOW right now, which I never even heard of before.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thundersnow  I know those of you up north think we are bats to be pleased about this but oh, my, are we!
  • Nowhere I have to be tonight, thanks be!
  • My mom is better!  Apparently the damage to her heart is NOT as severe as we were originally told.  She can go to some local exercise classes and plans to do that.
  • Puppy dog cuteness
  • Sisters
  • Getting through the "I Don't Wannas" and the bad headache of yesterday
  • Chinese food for lunch...left over from the new student orientation.

EDITED TO ADD:

  • Going home early for a "snow day," or as the University's web page put it, due to "inclimate" weather.  Usn's dont' know how to drive in this kind of slop and the black ice which often forms, and it makes an awful mess on the highway when cars go sliding all over the place and run into each other.
  • Did you know, when you drive on the highway straight into the snow, it looks like fireworks everywhere?  It is very very cool!

Gratitude List

Yes, friends, you know if you see me making a gratitude list, I must be GRUMPY!!  Need to think about that...

I woke up grumpy, because it was HOT, because the HEATER was on, because the weather can't decide what it wants to do.  Yesterday it was 80 degrees, today it's headed back down to 34.  Pah. Pah.

I did go to morning exercise class, yea!  It made me hot in a different way but that was good.  It was much better than staying in the hot bed, where for some reason Ken wanted to discuss a theological issue on which we disagree.  This is at 5:00 in the a.m., folks!  I told him, "I am grumpy right now and I do not want to discuss this with you at this time.  I hope that is okay; I will be glad to do it later."  He considered and then said solemnly, "I will not bring it up again for TEN YEARS."  I said, "Well, that's silly, I won't be grumpy for ten years!"  I hope.  We both got a giggle out of that anyway...and I greatly hope and pray that the issue will be resolved in 10 years...some way...!

I would greatly appreciate your prayers for my husband and son and me (for me, mostly, to keep on letting go of the situation over which I have no control...) and for my work, which has its interesting challenges.

So, grateful for:

  • cooler weather
  • my husband (really!)
  • my mom
  • my dogs
  • my job
  • Sonic Diet Cherry Limeade
  • Crystal Light Sunshine Orange drink
  • I'm not sick!  as are so many around me (knock wood)
  • my friends
  • choir practice resumes tom0rrow
  • Gregorian Chant CD by Chanticleer
  • You!

How You Know God Hears You

Just when you reach the end of your rope, you find that it's actually a swing, with a place to sit.

(While you wait for the headache meds to kick in.)

Oh, ps:  I'm very close to my 2,000th comment!  A nifty prize to that lucky person, whomever he or she may be!
